Day 44 (lock down)
Wednesday 6th May - bike **** - Felixstowe to Falkenham Church – Sunny
but breezy.
With wall to wall sunshine forecast again for Felixstowe we were keen to
get out on our bikes again but decided to take a sandwich so not in any
hurry. I tried on my new (to me) wetsuit got of Ebay for the bargain price
of £75 and it is like new, fitting like a glove and hopefully Boris will
relax the lock down restrictions a little at the weekend so we can get back
out windsurfing locally again, fingers crossed, I have to say that I have
been impressed by the majority of water users who showed a responsible
attitude by staying off the water during these very troubling times, well
done to you! Mag took a pic of me in my new wetsuit mainly to show off my
lock down look as I am not shaving until I am allowed back on the water, I
look more like the wild man of the mountains every day!!!! :) So again,
spent a lovely morning doing my exercises in the warm sunshine while taking
more pics of the flowers and bugs in the borders. As we have been to
Falkenham and Levington a lot lately our original plan was to take our
sandwich and eat it on one of the fishing platforms at Kings Fleet so
headed down to the beach but again there was a keen easterly wind making it
cool on the front, that’s another windsurfing session missed! So, we
stick to the road and Spa Gardens then head inland away from the coast at
The Fludgers ending up at Marsh Lane, a dead-end road off Ferry road which
turns into a farm track leading to Kings Fleet. There is a sign up saying
no public access but this is widely ignored by cyclists and walkers so we
headed across past the delict house. As always it is great to watch the
variety off crops growing as the fields slowly turn green! It was a bit
breezy to stop at Kings Fleet so we carried onto the Deben path and took a
different footpath ending up at Falkenham Church and horror of horrors
there was someone else sitting on our seat near ‘Emily’. It turned out
to be Mr and Mrs Swain also out on their bikes and we had a nice catch-up.
They headed off but it was too windy on the seat so we moved to the other
end of the church and sat by the front door for our sandwich. Refreshed to
started off for home via Kirton, Trimley and onto Candlet Lane skirting the
park at The Grove, through Felixstowe and home for a welcome cuppa with a
homemade biscuit :)
